Greetings and Salutations!

Hello fellow classmates of EDTC300. This is my first educational technology class. However, I have used technology over the last few years while pursuing my education degree. For example, I have used Zoom, Twitter and a few other websites I can’t recall the names of at the moment.

I am about to complete my second year of studying Middle Years Education. I am looking forward to seeing, hearing and learning all of the new possibilities that I can bring into my future classroom. Technology is something that is always advancing, and I want to make sure that as a future educator, I am also keeping up with those advances. I have been able to somewhat do so as a student over my time in elementary to high school and now university.

Blogging is an activity I engaged in during my early teens as a means to communicate how I was feeling at the time. I did so through poetry and mostly music. I imagine if I searched hard enough, some of those blogs are still online somewhere, but hopefully they are not easy to find!

Since blogging for university classes, I have viewed it altogether differently. Although it can still be personal, I find that I am more careful about what I write now as opposed to when I was younger; especially knowing that what is posted online is often permanent. This doesn’t even apply to blogging alone, rather all forms of social media that I have chosen to engage in. Such as my twitter, for example.

Here’s to new opportunities to not only growing our own resource lists, but to also the future students we will be working with!

  1. Hello Alicia! This is a very exciting journey for us to be starting and I also think it will really help us grow as educators. Technology is developing rapidly and very an important tool and resource in the classroom. This is my first zoom class so it is really neat to experience it and so far I am really enjoying it. I am looking forward to following your blog and twitter!

  2. I like your approach knowing that anything said online can somehow be archived and found. Having that awareness will allow you to find a lot of success in your future work. You are off to a great start and I look forward to checking in on this years journey in EDTC300.
